Our annual guided trip to Italy went off the beaten tourist track as we took a Southern Sojourn to the far south of the country to Puglia. Also known as Apulia, the region is located in the heel of Italy’s boot and is known for excellent food, beautiful baroque towns, scenic hilltop villages and miles of sandy beaches along the Adriatic coastline.  We visited Alberobello with its conical trulli, Otranto, Ostuni, Gallipoli, Brindisi and Lecce, known as the “Florence of the South”. This coming spring we are offering a magical trip to the old country...Ireland.  This 2-week tour will explore the coast of the Emerald Isle from Dublin to Shannon, and will include stays in Dublin, Waterford, Cork, and Killarney.  Highlights of the trip are visits to Celtic burial tombs and megalithic structures older than Stonehedge or the Pyramids, early Christian sites and intricately carved High crosses, battle-scarred castles, and stately homes surrounded by beautifully sculpted gardens.  You’ll see perfect Irish villages with their thatch-roofed cottages and mossy churchyards, the lakes and mountains of the Ring of Kerry, and the ruggedly gorgeous coast of Dingle.  This guided tour departs from Detroit on April 8 and returns April 23, 2018.
